| adios, new york.
In a few hours I leave this city. I've loved most every minute of my life here, and while
i'm not too sad to go because I know good things lie ahead for me,
there are some things i'll miss...
Though
I'm happy to leave behind the news helicopters waking me up at 5am and
cannot wait to finally see stars again at night, I will miss the way
the sun reflects off the highrise windows at dusk, making them glow
orange and red. I'll miss Wagner Cove, my favorite spot in all of
Central Park. I'll miss walking out of St. Patricks 7am Mass onto a 5th
avenue that looks like a ghost town, picnic lunches on the terrace
behind the museum, and the Sunday flea market on 77th. I'll miss all
Steve's unfunny jokes in the casting studio that everyone pretends to
laugh at, Beth and her unending patience with me and my endless
mistakes, and being able to hop on the train and visit my cousins in NJ
within an hour. I'll miss my 'office' at the Starbucks on Broadway and
75th and the barista who gives me free refills, running along the
Hudson at sunset, and free tickets to the MoMA from my upstairs
neighbor. I'll miss my bench at the Met in front of Van Gogh's Cypresses, and getting lost in the museum for hours and hours on end.
New York, you've been good to me. Not to worry, I'll be back someday.

1.
i
spent a beautiful morning downtown today. they were selling apple cider
donuts at a farmers market near
Bowling Green. i remember eating them as a kid when we went apple
picking in the fall and this morning they were every bit as scrumptious
as i remembered them to be. i wandered into the american indian museum
and was pleasantly surprised to find a very interesting contemporary
art show in one of the galleries.
2. i saw a wild turkey today in battery park.
it seemed a bit odd to me but there he was, just minding his own business.
3. only three days and i'll be back.

| This afternoon Amanda and Nate came through the city for a few hours on
their way back home to Virginia from my cousins baptism in Jersey. My favorite brother-in-law Nate had never
been to the city before so we packed in as much sightseeing as we could
in 6 hours.
[pizza, south street seaport, st. paul's church, rockefeller center, wall street, nintendo world store, central park, times square, the
ravioli store, ice cream] These two are the cutest together and I cannot wait to meet my new niece/nephew in the fall...

| Today marks the 18th birthday of the one and only Kelsie Anne Grimes, my beloved sister. She has grown into an amazing, beautiful, talented young woman and I can't wait to see what incredible things she does with her life. I love you, Gus. Have a fabulous birthday! |
